Sampling is done using a 8m beam trawl and a finemeshed shrimpnet during a half hour trawl, traveling at 3.5 knots. The use of this type of net brings less harm to the sediment ecosystem then the use of chainmatts, while it is still efficient in sampling epibenthic organisms and most of the demersal fish species. Only the organisms that attach to the bottom like, sole, semi-pelagic species like herring, thin fish species like sand eel are caught less efficient.\r\nThe material is immediately sorted, with or without the use of a sorting machine and is identified, counted and measured on board and\/or in the lab.","OrigAbstract":"Densiteit, soortenrijkdom en diversiteit van epifauna en demersale vis wordt  op het Belgisch deel van de Noordzee opgevolgd sinds 1979.","OrigDescr":"Het epibenthos en de demersale vis worden bemonsterd op een aantal stations verspreid over het Belgisch Continentaal Plat.\r\n\r\nStaalnames gebeuren met een 8m boomkor en een fijnmazig garnalennet (22mm in de kuil en een bollenpees), gedurende een half uur durende vissleep,\r\ngevaren aan 3.5 knopen. Een dergelijk net heeft het voordeel dat het minder schadelijk is voor\r\nhet bodemecosysteem dan wanneer met kettingmatten zou gewerkt worden. Toch is het effici\u00ebnt\r\nvoor het bemonsteren van epibenthische organismen en de meeste demersale vissoorten. Enkel\r\norganismen die zich 'vasthechten' aan de bodem zoals tong, semipelagische soorten zoals\r\nharing en dunne vissoorten zoals zandspiering worden iets minder effici\u00ebnt gevangen.\r\n\r\nHet materiaal wordt direct gesorteerd, al dan niet m.b.v. een spoel- en sorteermachine, aan boord\r\nen\/of in het labo gedetermineerd, gemeten en geteld.
