Naar analogie van andere natuurontwikkelingsgebieden worden de verschillende parameters bemonsterd langs verschillende dwarsraaien of transecten.","OrigDescr":"Het projectgebied Heusden LO bevindt zich langs de tij-arm van de Zeeschelde op de linkeroever, net stroomafwaarts Heusdenbrug. In het kader van het Sigmaplan moesten de dijken in dit gebied op Sigmahoogte en breedte gebracht worden. Verschillende dijklocatie- en uitvoeringsalternatieven werden voorgesteld, waarbij dit gebied aanvankelijk ook is aangemeld aan Europa als compensatie voor de bouw van het Deurganckdok. Tenslotte werd gekozen voor een ontpoldering waarbij de dijk landwaarts is verschoven. Sinds september 2006 is het gebied ingericht en onderhevig aan getijdenwerking. Ook in het voorjaar van 2006 was het gebied kortstondig onderhevig aan getij. \r\n\r\nBij oplevering van de werken is het gebied volledig begroeid met de oorspronkelijke vegetatie, op het gebied rond de waterplas na, daar vestigde zich tijdens de zomer pioniervegetatie. In het voorjaar van 2006 was deze zone kort onderhevig aan getij. Het gebied heeft bij de aanvang van het monitoringsprogramma de kenmerken van een laag bedijkt schor met beperkte afwatering tijdens laagwater.\r\n\r\nNaar analogie van andere natuurontwikkelingsgebieden worden de verschillende parameters bemonsterd langs verschillende dwarsraaien of transecten. In totaal zijn 5 raaien afgebakend waarlangs 16 permanente kwadraten gesitueerd zijn. Jaarlijks worden vegetatieopnames gemaakt van deze PQ’s (Londoschaal) en wordt de absolute hoogte (m TAW) ingemeten met behulp van RTK-GPS en theodoliet om de overstromingsfrequentie te kunnen berekenen. Op 11 locaties zijn sederoplots geïnstalleerd om de sedimentatie- en erosieprocessen op te volgen. Langs deze 11 plots worden tevens sedimentstalen verzameld ter bepaling van de granulometrie, organische stof gehalte en fysico-chemische eigenschappen. Macrobenthosstalen worden eveneens langs deze raaien verzameld en dit om de kolonisatie van het gebied op te volgen. Langsheen de raaien worden ook profielen opgemeten met behulp van een RTK
