Vegetation maps are constructed on the basis of aerial photographs in combination with verification in the field.","OrigAbstract":"Verschillende parameters zoals vegetatie, macrobenthos, watervogels en sediment worden op een gestandaardiseerde wijze opgevolgd binnen het estuarium van Gent tot de Belgisch-Nederlandse grens met inbegrip van de Durme en Rupel.","OrigDescr":"De Zeeschelde is het Vlaamse deel van het Schelde-estuarium. Het Schelde-estuarium heeft een volledige saliniteitsgradiënt, waarlangs specifieke levensgemeenschappen zich ontwikkelen. Als basis voor integraal beheer moeten toestand en effecten van ingrepen zo goed mogelijk worden ingeschat middels een goed monitoringsprogramma. Op basis van het monitoringsprogramma worden naast de toestand ook trends in de Zeeschelde beschreven en kan het gevoerde beleid worden geëvalueerd. De verzamelde data worden ook aangedragen voor de implementatie van nationaal en internationaal milieu- en natuurbeleid en er worden inschattingen van ingreep-effect relaties gemaakt. Voorts leveren de verzamelde gegevens input voor ecosysteemmodellen en krijgt men inzicht in trofische interacties in het estuarium.\r\n\r\nVerschillende parameters zoals vegetatie, macrobenthos, watervogels en sediment worden op een gestandaardiseerde wijze opgevolgd binnen het estuarium van Gent tot de Belgisch-Nederlandse grens met inbegrip van de Durme en Rupel. De vegetatie wordt opgevolgd aan de hand van 200 permanente kwadraten (PQ’s), verspreid langsheen de Zeeschelde, waarvan om de drie jaar een vegetatieopname (Londoschaal) wordt gemaakt.
