- Polychaetes of rocky shores along the South Adriatic Coast
- Description in English
- Data consisted of counts of abundance and species of polychaetes collected along a rocky cliff near Otranto (southern Adriatic Sea, Italy). There were three sites, separated, approx. 100 m apart and, for each site, at each of the two sampling occasions (May and November 2000), sampling was undertaken at 5, 15 and 25 m depth by scraping off three replicate 20*20 cm quadrats. There were 160 species on a total of 4176 individuals
- Abstract in English
- The general aim of this data collection was to realise an inventory of the polychaete fauna along the Apulian coast. Giangrande et al. (2003) aimed to quantify possible differences in assemblage structure among the three sampled sites and along a depth gradient. The data were also used to examine polychaete assemblages under different environmental conditions, making a preliminary evaluation of the usefulness of this group in hard bottom monitoring possible (Giangrande et al., 2004).
