Een substaal van deze vissen werd geanalyseerd voor het delta13C en delta15N isotoop signaal van hart-, spier- en leverweefsel (=initiële isotoopwaarden).\r\n\r\nHierna werden de vissen in aquaria geplaatst voor een duur van 90 dagen onder gecontroleerde omstandigheden (zuurstofconcentratie, watertemperatuur, saliniteit). Deze vissen werden gevoed met een experimenteel (isotoopsignaal verschilt van isotoopsignaal natuurlijk dieet), een natuurlijk (<i>Arenicola sp. </i> en <i>Mytilus edulis</i>) of geen dieet.
