In total, during 8 offshore surveys data are collected. The surveys covered by WGBEAM have all their own origins and were not set up as one survey. Due to that, no standardization has taken place in gears. The different countries all have their own sampling area and because the gears used vary, it is not possible to change sampling locations from one country to the other without any thorough scientific study beforehand.
