La tortuga golfina es la especie con mayor abundancia de nidos.","OrigDescr":"Con el apoyo de la Alianza WWF-Telcel se ha permitido consolidar los programas de conservaci\u00f3n de tortugas marinas en el estado de Baja California Sur a trav\u00e9s de la investigaci\u00f3n y actividades de rastreo satelital, educaci\u00f3n ambiental, capacitaci\u00f3n de expertos, protecci\u00f3n de sitios de anidaci\u00f3n y el fortalecimiento de un Centro de Protecci\u00f3n e Investigaci\u00f3n de la Tortuga Marina, del Municipio de Los Cabos. \r\n<p>\r\n\u201cGracias al trabajo conjunto de la Alianza, el gobierno local, la Comisi\u00f3n Nacional de \u00c1reas Naturales Protegidas (CONANP), grupos tortugueros y el sector hotelero el Programa para la Protecci\u00f3n de Tortugas Marinas desarroll\u00f3 el proyecto \u2018tras la ruta de la tortuga golfina\u2019, que ha logrado el seguimiento satelital de ocho tortugas marinas -Renata, Abby, Esperanza, Marisol, Terramar, Camila, Raquel y Azteca-\u201d, explic\u00f3 Graciela Tiburcio,asesora de la Direcci\u00f3n municipal de educaci\u00f3n, divulgaci\u00f3n y difusi\u00f3n ambiental del Gobierno de Los Cabos. La Alianza ha participado tambi\u00e9n en el marcaje satelital de cuatro tortugas prietas y dos tortugas carey con otras asociaciones. \r\n<p>\r\nLos datos obtenidos por 5 a\u00f1os proveen informaci\u00f3n sobre lugares de estancia, distancias y posibles rutas migratorias. Ello contribuye a estimar los grupos de la poblaci\u00f3n reproductiva, compararlos con otras poblaciones del mundo y tomar decisiones sobre su manejo y conservaci\u00f3n. Por ejemplo, demostr\u00f3 que, contrario a lo que se cre\u00eda, las tortugas golfinas no se alejan del territorio mexicano y, dependiendo de la disponibilidad de alimento, pueden incluso permanecer frente a las costas realizando movimientos entre Sinaloa, Jalisco y Nayarit. \r\n<p>\r\n\u201cEl seguimiento satelital es una herramienta invaluable de educaci\u00f3n ambiental. Con base en \u00e9l, se dise\u00f1\u00f3 un proyecto para escuelas primarias con actividades vinculadas a espa\u00f1ol, matem\u00e1ticas, historia y ciencias sociales y habilidades cient\u00edficas, correlacionadas con los programas de estudio de la Secretar\u00eda de Educaci\u00f3n P\u00fablica, en el que se rastrea a las tortugas por internet o mediante una experiencia posterior.
