Working together with local fishers, Project SIARC seeks to understand the movements of endangered tope (Galeorhinus galeus) and angelshark (Squatina squatina) in the Pen Llŷn a’r Sarnau Special Area of Conservation (PLAS SAC), in Wales. We have deployed a new network of scientific moorings in PLAS SAC which are recording the movements of tope and angelsharks, implanted with acoustic tags in 2024 and 2025. The aim of this research is to provide insights into the main areas and habitats that tope use within the SAC, and their wider movements.
This dataset contains the metadata of receivers and their deployments, and the detections of those animals within the PLAS SAC and other acoustic telemetry projects in Europe.
