The primary objective of the sampling campaigns was to quantify the abundance and spatial variability of intertidal populations of the patellid limpet Patella candei in two marine protected areas and two non-protected areas around the island. Using consistent field methodologies, the survey generated a robust baseline of limpet density data, enabling comparisons among sites, islands and supporting assessments of level of exploitation at local and regional scales.
