The department of Pathobiology, Pharmacology and Zoological Medicine studies host-microbial interactions, antimicrobial resistance and several (non-)infectious diseases in various animal species. The laboratory of Veterinary Pathology has expertise in research regarding beneficial effects of pre- and probionts and their modes of action in marine larviculture and pathogenesis of bacterial infections in fish with a focus of the skin, gill and gut as portal of entry. Previous research has also included an evaluation of the impact of pulse fishing on a selection of marine fish and invertebrate species in the North Sea and microbial endocrinology. The lab of Veterinary Pathology is also experienced in necropsy and histopathology of (marine) fish and marine mammals.

De vakgroep Pathobiologie, Farmacologie en Bijzondere Dieren bestudeert gastheer-microbiële interacties, antimicrobiële resistentie en verschillende (niet-)infectieziekten bij verschillende diersoorten. Het laboratorium voor Veterinaire Pathologie heeft expertise in onderzoek naar gunstige effecten van pre- en probionten en hun werkingsmechanismen in de mariene larvicultuur en de pathogenese van bacteriële infecties bij vissen met een focus op de huid, kieuw en darm als toegangspoort. Eerder onderzoek omvatte ook een evaluatie van de impact van pulsvisserij op een selectie van mariene vissen en ongewervelde soorten in de Noordzee en microbiële endocrinologie. Het laboratorium voor Veterinaire Pathologie heeft ook ervaring met necropsie en histopathologie van (zee)vissen en zeezoogdieren.
