The key research topics can be mapped into four overlapping themes:\r\n<ul><li>corrosion technology;</li><li>electrochemical modelling;</li><li>electrochemical and surface processes;</li><li>multifunctional surfaces and new materials.</li></ul>\r\n\r\nSURF's approach to deal with both fundamental and application driven aspects is one of combining experimental and modelling techniques. Experimental techniques are oriented towards surface and electrochemical characterisation.
