Its purpose is to reduce threats to cetaceans notably by improving current knowledge on these animals.\r\nThis intergovernmental Agreement provides the demonstration of the commitment of riparian Countries to preserve all species of cetaceans and their habitats within the geographical Agreement area by the enforcement of more stringent measures than those defined in the texts adopted previously.\r\n\r\nACCOBAMS results from consultations between Secretariats of four Conventions:\r\n- the Barcelona Convention for the Protection of the Marine Environment and the Coastal Region of the Mediterranean and its Protocol concerning Specially Protected Areas and Biological Diversity in the Mediterranean,\r\n- the Bonn Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals,\r\n- the Bern Convention on the Conservation of European Wildlife and Natural Habitats,\r\n- the Bucharest Convention on the Protection of the Black Sea Against Pollution.\r\n\r\nFinally, given the migratory characteristics of these species, the Agreement was established under the auspices of the Bonn Convention (UNEP\/CMS).\r\nACCOBAMS was signed on November 24th, 1996 and entered into force on June 1st, 2001.","AbstractOtherLang":null,"AbstractLangCode":null,"AbstractLangID":null,"AbstractLang":null,"AbstractLangNL":null,"SuccessorOfInsID":null,"DateLastModified":{"date":"2024-06-04 01:34:19.073000","timezone_type":1,"timezone":"+00:00"},"PrevIns":null,"PrevAcro":null,"PublicFlag":1,"CheckedFlag":0,"ParID":null,"InstituteType":"Others","EnvName":"Monaco","ISO3166":"MC","LevelName":null,"ND":"2021-03-23","UD":"2021-03-23","EncAddress":", Jardin de l'UNESCO Les Terrasses de Fontvieille, 98000, Monaco, Monaco"},"parent":null,"institutes":null,"references":[],"conferences":null,"datasets":[{"DasID":8203,"Acronym":null,"Citation":"Fossati, C. and G.
