On the one hand, the AWI is responsible for preparing the policy conducted by the Flemish government in the field of science and technology, thereby integrating fundamental, applied and strategic research into one coherent policy for Flanders. On the other hand, the AWI sees to it that this policy is being implemented in the right way, thereby also measuring and analysing the results and social effects of the applied policy measures.
