The research addresses both functional and evolutionary questions. Most of the studies focus on trophic interactions within the pelagic food web, in which filter-feeders (e.g. water fleas and zebra mussels) play a central role. Special attention is paid to the steering role of infochemicals in the functioning and structure of food webs. Other research projects focus on the behaviour of communities in relation to stress factors.","AbstractOtherLang":"De werkgroep Voedselweb Onderzoek bestudeert het voedselweb van de Nederlandse meren. Wat zijn de sleutelsoorten in de zoetwater ecosystemen bijvoorbeeld? Het gaat om eten en gegeten worden: van alg en bacterie via dierlijk plankton naar vis. Vooral de interacties van planktonpopulaties met hun levende en niet-levende omgeving staan centraal. Daarbij wordt spionage niet geschuwd. De verworven kennis vormt de basis voor individu-georiënteerde computermodellen.
