MIRA ('Milieurapport') is the State of the Environment Report (SOER) of Flanders. It provides an overall picture of the environmental state of the Flemish Region, the environmental objectives, the underlying disruption processes, the future environmental state and the environmental policy. The reports are the reflection of the scientific knowledge on environmental issues in Flanders, scattered in universities, scientific institutions, administrative services and all sorts of organisations, and coordinated by the Flemish Environment Agency (VMM). Within the framework of the DPSI-R chain, the reports use indicators and models to analyse the different environmental topics.

MIRA is een product van de overheid, m.n. de Vlaamse Milieumaatschappij (VMM). MIRA beschrijft, analyseert en evalueert de toestand van het Vlaamse leefmilieu, bespreekt het gevoerde milieubeleid en blikt vooruit op mogelijke milieuontwikkelingen. Met MIRA dient de VMM een dubbel doel: - levering wetenschappelijke onderbouwing voor het Vlaams milieubeleid - de bevolking, de bedrijven en de landbouw op de hoogte brengen van de toestand van het leefmilieu, en hen motiveren om er bewust(er) mee om te springen
