Also, research is conducted regarding fluid mechanics, solid mechanics, simulation of industrial processes and numerical methods, as well as algorithms for scientific computations. \r\n\r\nWithin the marine field, the group performs modelling of ocean circulations, sea level variations and ice dynamics by means of various models (e.g. SLIM and CART). The SLIM-model is inter alia applied on the Scheldt river - estuary - sea continuum","AbstractOtherLang":"De unité de Mécanique Appliquée (MEMA) van de Université Catholique de Louvain (UCL) doet onderzoek naar de theoretische voorspelling van het gedrag van vaste stoffen en vloeistoffen met behulp van wiskundige modellering en computersimulatietechnieken. Daarbij wordt onderzoek gedaan naar o.a. de mechanica van fluïda, de mechanica van vaste stoffen, de simulatie van industriële processen en numerieke methodes en algoritmes voor wetenschappelijke berekeningen.\r\n\r\nIn het mariene domein wordt onderzoek gedaan naar het modelleren van oceaancirculaties, zeespiegelvariaties en ijsdynamiek door middel van verschillende modellen (bv.
