At the CRC, both in situ and ex situ projects are being carried out.\r\n\r\nFor both wild and captive populations, the demographic and genetic characteristics of the population provide a kind of diagnosis of the current health of the population. Based on these diagnoses, research projects can be developed within this or the other research units of the CRC to address the underlying issues to these problems.","AbstractOtherLang":"Conservatie biologie is de multidisciplinaire wetenschap die focust op de biologische principes en de toepassingen ervan  voor het behoud van soorten, biodiversiteit in het algemeen het behoud van het evenwicht binnen ecosystemen. Deze wetenschap integreert relevante ideeën uit de ecologie, populatie biologie, genetica, biogeografie, gedrag en een aantal toegepaste disciplines zoals wild- en bosbeheer. Zowel in situ als ex situ projecten worden uitgevoerd binnen het instituut.\r\n\r\nVoor zowel wilde als poulaties in gevangenschap leveren de demografische en genetische karakteristieken een diagnose voor de huidige gezondheid van de populaitie.
