Objectives of the project: The collection of atmospheric aerosol samples above and in the vicinity of the North Sea and in the marine background areas. Determination of the chemical composition of the aerosols Investigation of the multi-component datasets to acquire informatie about the relative contribution of the different natural and antropogenic sources and of the source areas to the atmospheric concentrations of the fine and the coarse aerosol mass, the most important components of the aerosols and the heavy metals. Research of the physical and chemical transformations of the aerosol particles during the atmospheric transport and of the dry and wet flux flux between the atmosphere and the sea surface.

Doelstellingen van het project:

• De collectie van atmosferische aerosolmonsters boven en in de nabijheid van de Noordzee en in mariene achtergrondsgebieden.
• De bepaling van de chemische samenstelling van de aerosolen.
• Het onderzoek van de multi-element (multi-component) gegevenssets om informatie te bekomen omtrent de relatieve bijdrage van de verschillende natuurlijke en antropogen bronnen en van de brongebieden tot de atmosferische concentraties van de fijne en grove aerosolmassa, de belangrijkste aerosolcomponenten en de zware metalen.
• Het onderzoek naar de fysische en chemische transformaties van de aerosoldeeltjes tijdens het atmosferisch transport en naar het droge en natte flux tussen atmosfeer en zeewateroppervlak.
