This study is the third component of the ‘Research on the environmental effects of the SIGMA plan: Effects of dredgings and harbour expansion on the environment’ The volume of suspended matter is estimated. Suspended matter is important to maintain the open structure of channel and because it limits the light absorption in the Sea Scheldt. Suspended matter has an own characteristic evolution and needs intensive attention

Deze studie maakt het 3de perceel uit van het "Onderzoek naar de gevolgen van het Sigmaplan, baggeractiviteiten en havenuitbreiding in de Zeeschelde op het milieu". Dit perceel betreft de bepaling van de hoeveelheid zwevende stof. Zwevende stof is uitermate van belang voor het openhouden van de waterweg en omdat het het lichtklimaat in de Zeeschelde limiteert. Het heeft een heel eigen gedrag en verdient daarom ruimere aandacht.
