Description @en

The microphytobentos is an important primary producer in estuarine ecosystems. It has never been taken in to account in previous ecological models of this biotope. The purpose of this research is to study these organisms qualitatively as well as quantitavily, to seek their distribution pattern and seasonality as to define their impact on the energy flux in this ecosystem.

Het microfytobenthos is een belangrijke primaire producent in estuariene ecosystemen. Totnogtoe werd het echter steeds in de ecologische modellen buiten beschouwing gelaten. Doel van dit onderzoek is deze organismen kwalitatief en kwantitatief te onderzoeken, hun verspreidingspatroon en seizoenaliteit na te gaan om hun impact op de energieflux van dit ecosysteem te bepalen.
