(Marine management) of the \"Earth observation by satellite\" (TELSAT 4) of the program for scientific support for a policy of durable development.\r\n\r\nThe research has the objectives:\r\n\r\n1. To improve the bio-optical algorithms used in the ocean colour model existing at MUMM by incorporating the latest theoretical advances and by performing a calibration of the model specific to the Belgian coastal zone. This calibration is based on sets of inherent optical properties and corresponding water constituents measured in a series of seaborne campaigns.\r\n\r\n2. To improve the use of the ocean colour products and to enhance the processing chain by incorporating the characteristics of new sensors (MODIS, MERIS, etc).\r\n\r\n3. To prepare higher level products combining satellite imagery, in situ measurements and/or the results from mathematical models, and to tailor such higher level products to the needs of already-identified end-users.\r\n\r\nThis proposal represents an exension of the work already carried out in the project \"The multicoloured North Sea\" (T4/DD/004), which ends in November 1998","AbstractOtherLang":"<li>Beschrijving :\r\n\r\nDit onderzoeksvoorstel wordt ingediend onder thema B.3. (Marien beheer) van het \"Aardobservatie per satelliet\" (TELSAT 4) programma voor wetenschappelijke ondersteuning van een duurzaam ontwikkelingsbeleid.\r\n\r\nHet onderzoek heeft de volgende doelstellingen:\r\n\r\n1. De bio-optische algoritmen te verbeteren die gebruikt worden in het BMMN model voor de kleur van de oceaan bij BMM door de meest recente theoretische vooruitgang erin te verwerken en door het model te kalibreren specifiek voor het Belgische kustgebied. Deze kalibrering is gebaseerd op reeksen van inherent optische eigenschappen en overeenkomstige waterbestanddelen gemeten in een reeks expedities op zee.\r\n\r\n2. Het gebruik van de producten voor de kleurbepaling van de oceaan te verbeteren en de verwerkingsketen bij te werken door de eigenschappen van nieuwe sensoren in te voeren (MODIS, MERIS, enz).\r\n\r\n3.
