{"projectrec":{"ProID":1759,"StandardTitle":"Evaluation Model for the Sustainable Development of European Coastal Zones","OrigTitle":"Modèle d'évaluation pour le développement durable des zones côtières d'Europe","Acronym":"DEDUCE","AbstractEnglish":"<u>Objective</u>\r\n\r\nOn May 30, 2002, the European Parliament and the Council adopted the <i>Recommendation concerning the implementation of Integrated Coastal Zone Management</i> with the aim of fostering the development of integrated management strategies to guide the European coastal zones towards more sustainable scenarios.  \r\nIn the framework of implementing the EU Recommendation, the European Commission created an Expert Group on Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM), which established a Working Group on Indicators and Data (WG-ID).  The result of the work carried out by WG-ID has been the definition of a set of 27 indicators, drawn up for the assessment and monitoring of the state of the coast from the point of view of a sustainable development.  \r\nIn this context arises the Intereg IIIC-South DEDUCE project (<b>Dé</b>veloppement <b>Du</b>rable des Zones <b>C</b>ôtières <b>E</b>uropéennes), with the objective of validating the methodological tools necessary for an optimal decision making at the coast, following the principles and criteria established by the Recommendation.  \r\n\r\n<u>Working Lines</u>\r\n\r\nThe key challenge of DEDUCE is to prove the usefulness, viability and necessity of an integrated approach to information management by means of environmental and socioeconomic indicators for measuring the degree of sustainable development of the European coastal zones.  \r\n\r\n<u>Partners</u>\r\n\r\nThe participating partners work at a European, national, regional or local scale on integrated coastal zone management, and they can produce consistent and harmonized data between the different working scales.  The partners are : \r\n<ul>\r\n  <li>Department of Environment and Housing, Catalan Parliament, Spain (Lead Partner)\r\n  <li>El Prat de Llobregat local council, Spain\r\n  <li>Viladecans local council, Spain\r\n  <li>Autonomous University of Barcelona- European Topic Centre Terrestrial Environment (ETC-TE), from the European Environment Agency, Spain\r\n  <li>French Environment Institute (IFEN), depending on the French Environment Ministry, France\r\n  <li>Malta Environment and Planning Authority (MEPA), Malta\r\n  <li>Province of West-Flanders, Belgium\r\n  <li>University of Latvia, Latvia\r\n  <li>Maritime Institute in Gdansk, Poland\r\n</ul>","AbstractOtherLang":"<u>L'objectif</u>\r\n\r\nLe 30 mai 2002, le Parlement Européen et le Conseil ont approuveé la <i>Recommandation pour une Gestion Intégrée des Zones Côtières</i>.  Cette Recommandation veut promouvoir l'élaboration des stragégies de gestion intégrée dans le but d'orienter les zones côtières vers des scénarios plus durables.  <br>\r\nDans le cadres de la mise en oevre de la Recommandation Européenne, la commission européenne a crée le Groupe d'Experts en Gestion Intégrée des Zones Côtières (ICZM), ainsi que le Groupe de Travail sur Indicateurs et Données (WG-ID). Le travail du WG-ID a abouti à la définition d'une liste de 27 indicateurs pour l'évaluation et le suivi, de l'état du littoral, selon une approche de développement durable.  <br>\r\nC'est dans ce contexte que'est né le projet Intereg IIC-Sud DEDUCE (<b>Dé</b>veloppement <b>Du</b>rable des Zones <b>C</b>ôtières <b>E</b>uropéennes), avec pour objectif la validation des outils d'aide a la décision, suivant les principes et les critères établis par la Recommandation. \r\n\r\n<u>Les axes de travail</u>\r\n\r\nLe défi principal du projet DEDUCE est de montrer l'utilité, la viabilité et la nécessité d'une vision intégrée de la gestion de l'information au travers d'indicateurs environnementaux et socioéconomiques, permettant mesurer le niveau de développement durable des zones côtières européennes.  \r\n\r\n<u>Les partenaires</u>\r\n\r\nLes participants au projet travaillent sur la gestion intégrée du littoraux aux échelles européenne, nationale, régionale ou locale et peuvent fournir des données cohérentes et harmonisées entre les différentes niveaux.
