- The participants of the RUG will carry out a systematic study of selected taxa of the flora of Papua New Guinea and adjacent archipelagoes.Within the marine algae, the Caulerpales (Chlorophyta) and the genus Dictyota (Phaeophyta) will be studied in detail. Phytoplankton studies will include diatoms, desmids and phytoflagellates belonging to different algal taxa. The mycological study will focus on the Xylariaceae (Ascomycetes) with emphasis on the anamorph-teleomorph connection. Pteridological research will be carried out on the Aspleniaceae and within the phanerogams emphasis will be laid on the study of Cyperaceae and Poaceae.

- De RUG-deelnemers zullen geselecteerde taxa van de flora van Papoea Niew Guinea en omliggende archipelago's systematisch bestuderen. Van de zeewieren zullen de Caulerpales (Chlorophyta) en het genus Dictyota (Phaeophyta) in detail bestudeerd worden; fytoplanktonstudies includeren de diatomeën (Bacillariophyta), sierwieren (Desmidiales) en fytoflagellaten (behorend tot verschillende wiertaxa). Het mycologisch onderzoek zal gericht zijn naar de Xylariaceae (Ascomycetes) met accent op de connectie tussen de anamorfe en teleomorfe fase.
