- The Problem / The Project Objectives
The aim of the project is to make recent maps of the tidal marsh vegetation around the Scheldt River and the Nete catchment. Hereto airborne hyperspectral data are collected and classified. LiDAR data are gathered to map the topography of the dikes. Additionally, a detailed mapping of all structures along the dikes is made. An inventory of the tidal marsh vegetation is needed to follow-up the biological value of the Scheldt and Nete rivers and is used in compensation measures.
The Methodology:
- Airborne hyperspectral and LiDAR data are gathered.
- The data are pre-processed and classified with existing classifaction procedures (based on Linear Discriminant Analysis).
- The structures are manually digitised
The (Expected) Results:
- Maps and sheets with the vegetation cover and the structures along the Scheldt and Nete rivers.
- Maps indicating the low water level at the moment the data were captured.
