Description @en

The project aims at the optimasation and field validation of bacterial stress promotors (BEST) for the determination of sediment- and water quality. In a first approach, the sampling- and extraction procedures are optimised for four locations with know pollution profiles. Secondly, the BEST induction profiles are compared to available chemical, biological and ecotoxicological information for selected locations in Flanders with varying degrees of pollution.

Het project beoogt de optimalisatie en veldvalidatie van bacteriële stresspromotoren (BEST) voor de kwaliteitsbepaling van sediment- en waterstalen. In eerste instantie worden staalname- en extractiemethoden geoptimaliseerd voor een viertal locaties met een gekende vervuilingsgraad. In tweede instantie worden de inductieprofielen van BEST vergeleken met beschikbare chemische, biologische en ecotoxicologische informatie voor locaties in Vlaanderen met variërende vervuiling.
