The presence of natural dynamics in coastal dunes is a prerequisite for the conservation of natural communities of pre-adapted species. In these ecosystems, aeolian dynamics are hampered due to anthropogenic influences. To document and understand prevalent shifts in ibodiversity, a mechanistic approach to study shifts in life-history syndromes and fitness-related treats of specialised arthropods will be implemented.

De aanwezigheid van natuurlijke dynamiek is van essentieel belang voor de instandhouding van gemeenschappen van soorten aangepast aan onstabiele omgevingsomstandigheden. In de kustduinen is aeolische dynamiek essentieel voor het behoud van intrinsiek zeldzame soorten. Om verschuivingen in de biodiversiteit te begrijpen zal op een experimentele en beschrijvende manier nagegaan worden in welke mate dit gepaard gaat met verschuivingen in levensgeschiedenissyndromen bij specifieke arthropoda.
