Nowadays, the deficiencies in wild catch are largely replaced by aquaculture production. However, the aquaculture sector has some major issues with sustainability.\r\nIn this project we will develop a forensic tool which can serve as proof for illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) products, identify mislabeling and trace escapees from aquaculture. Wewill focus on European sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax L.) because of its high commercial value and importance for aquaculture in Europe.\r\nThepractical tool will comprise a diagnostic and validated kit of informative SNP (Single Nucleotide Polymorphism) markers.
