SIARC
Description @en

The marine environment in Wales is teeming with life; beneath the often-murky waters are little understood species of shark, skate and ray (elasmobranchs) of conservation importance.
Project SIARC is catalysing links between fishers, researchers, communities and government to collaborate and safeguard elasmobranchs and support a green recovery in Wales.

Our objectives are:

  • Fishers and scientists work together, to share knowledge and experiences.
  • Gather important information to better understand sharks, skates and rays.
  • Work with local partners to identify ways for a wider range of people to access and experience the coast and sea.
  • Schoolchildren use new ways of learning to explore the coast and sea.
  • Partner with local communities to deliver citizen science activities and learning experiences.
  • Celebrate Wales’ marine life and local culture.
