The MARE-WIND project focuses on understanding how offshore wind farms (OWFs) impact marine
life and local communities. Researchers are studying how the construction, operation, and eventual
removal of these wind farms affect ocean ecosystems, especially biodiversity, food chains, and the
spread of pollutants. The project also aims to identify ways to make OWFs more sustainable and
acceptable to society.
Het MARE-WIND-project onderzoekt hoe offshore windparken het zeeleven en lokale ecosystemen beïnvloeden. Onderzoekers bestuderen hoe de bouw, exploitatie en uiteindelijke verwijdering van deze windparken de ecosystemen van de oceaan beïnvloeden, met name de biodiversiteit, voedselketens en de verspreiding van vervuilende stoffen. Het project is ook gericht op het identificeren van manieren om offshore windparken duurzamer en acceptabeler te maken voor de maatschappij.
