The scientific project includes 4 aspects:

1. The analysis of the different components of the particulate matter in suspension
2. The study of the ecological role of the diurnal rhythm of the zooplankton affecting the composition of the phytoplankton.
3. The study of the main factors affecting the different functioning of marine ecosystems: theprimary production-dtritus system on one hand, and the food chain system on the other hand.
4. A general mathematical model of the relations phyto-zooplankton.The basic analyses which have to be performed are using the HPLC and the Coulomat asequipments. The Industrial Ingeneer, Mrs Marcia Bogaert, who is running this equipment since 10 years is strictly needed for this purpose. Her contract ends on 31/12/94.

Het wetenschappelijke programma omvat verschillende luiken:

1. Analyse van de verschillende komponenten van het partikulair gesuspendeerd organisch materiaal.
2. de studie van de ekologische rol van de dag-nacht gedrag van het zooplankton in de samenstelling en evolutie van het fytoplankton
3. De studie en het opsporen van de belangrijkste faktoren die aan de oorsprong zijn van de werking van ekosystemen zo verschillend als de primaire produktie-detritus systeem aan de ene hand of de voedselketen systeem aan de andere hand.
4. In model brengen van de data opgestapeld in de 15 laatste jaren in verband met de relaties tussen fyto- en zooplankton. De basis analysen die uitgevoerd moeten worden, worden met de HPLC en de Coulomat gedaan. De industrieel ingenieur, Mevrouw Marcia Bogaert die deze toestellen bedient sinds 10 jaar is daarvoor strikt noodzakelijk. Haar kontrakt eindigt op 31/12/94.
