  1. To extend the study on the association between micro-organic pollutants and lipid classes from PCBs to other micropollutants: organochlorine pesticides and polyaromatic hydrocarbons. The study will allow verification of the importance of physicochemical partitioning, considering a broader range of micro-organic pollutants (with a broader range of physicochemical characteristics). As the polyaromatic hydrocarbons are subjected to degradation and metabolization, these processes will also be considered in the interpretation of the data. \r\n
  2. To study the relation between the amount of particulate (and if possible dissolved) organic matter and bioconcentration of PCBs, organochlorine pesticides and polyaromatic hydrocarbons in natural conditions.\r\n
","AbstractOtherLang":"Daarom wordt voorgesteld om in een nieuwe studie: - de associatie tussen organische micro verontreinigers en lipideklassen van marien biologisch materiaal uit te breiden naar ander organische micro polluenten: organochloor pesticiden en polyaromatischekoolwaterstoffen. De studie zal toelaten om de geldigheid van de physicochemische partitie na te gaan op een bredere groep van componenten met andere physicochemische eigenschappen (bredere gradient in Kow). Deze studie zal eveneens, ten minste voor de polyaromatische koolwaterstoffen, rekening moeten houden met metabolizatieprocessen. Andere studies hebben belangrijke regionale en seizoenale verschillen in bioconcentratiefactoren (onafhankelijk van lokale inputs) waargenomen (Delbeke et. al., 1990; Swackhamer and Skoglund, 1993; Bergen et. al., 1993). Het effect van omgevingsfactoren, met name de hoeveelheid partikulair en opgelost organisch materiaal, op de bioconcentratiefactoren (van organische polluenten) werd bovendien recent aangetoond in labo- en veld studies (Di Toro et. al., 1985 and 1991; Richer et. al., 1992, Delbeke et. al.,1994b). Daarom zal eveneens getracht worden om de relatie tussen de hoeveelheden organisch materiaal in de watermassa en de bioconcentratiefactoren waargenomen voor de biologische compartimenten te kwantifieren. Deze studie zal seizoenale en regionale variaties aan de Belgische kustzone in beschouwing nemen. De studie kan bijdragen tot betere normalizatie en monitoring procedures voor organische polluenten in aquatische systemen.
