The resulting data will be used to describe the ecosystem changes and to estimate the importance of the river as a migration route. In addition, fish sampling starts in controlled overflow areas along the Zeeschelde. The question arises wether these areas act during controlled  flood regimes as a nursery or as a feeding ground for migrating species. In a final case study the actual situation of the river lamprey is studied in detail.","AbstractOtherLang":"Voor de Boven-Zeeschelde wordt binnen het kader van het projektvoorstel een biomonitoringsprogramma voorgesteld. Dit monitoringsprogramma moet toelaten om veranderingen in de structuur van levensgemeenschappen te volgen en ook het belang van de Zeeschelde als migratieroute in te schatten. Daarnaast wordt gestart met een inventarisatie van de visfauna in de gecontroleerde overstromingsgebieden. Meer bepaald zijn gegevens nodig in verband met de invloed van overstromingen op de lokale visfauna, al dan niet geassocieerd met migraties van vissen in en uit de gecontroleerde overstromingsgebieden. Er dient dan ook nader onderzocht te worden in welke mate deze gebieden voor een aantal soorten als geschikte paaiplaatsen kunnen fungeren.
