Deze geleidendheidsmeter is ontwikkeld voor het meten in zuiver zeewater en meet de saliniteit, welke moet worden omgerekend naar chloriniteit (UNESCO formule). Daar Westerscheldewater niet dezelfde samenstelling als zuiver zeewater heeft, zal deze meet- en omrekeningswijze (saliniteit naar chloriniteit) fouten bevatten. Daarnaast zijn er verschillende foutenbronnen, die aanleiding geven tot een onnauwkeurigheid in de gemeten saliniteit (instrument-afwijkingen, calibratie- en afleesfouten e.d.). Aan de hand van 166 controlemonsters is de relatie saliniteit (Beckman) - chloriniteit, die voor de Westerschelde geldt, bepaald. Hierbij is tevens de standaardafwijking, een maat voor de invloed van alle foutenbronnen, berekend.
