The flooding frequency influences the zonation of the vegetation. In turn, this zonation pattern is modified by sedimentation and erosion processes brought about by the tidal movements. Within the vegetation intra- and interspecific processes due to tidal action both on the population and on the individual level may also modify the vegetation pattern.
