Many different processes have been developed, both for the production of fish meal and fish flour, but none of these has had a long life due to the inability to create a market for the products. A few of the projects will be described here. The Norwegian Fisheries Research Institute has built a pilot plant for the production of fish flour, and this will also be further described. The process adopted is based on simultaneous water removal and extraction with ethanol. The extraction is performed in three stages. and the miscella is separated from the solids after each stage by the use of screw presses (expellers). Although the extraction takes place at ordinary room temperatures, the laboratory experiments showed that from pure fish meat might be produced an entirely neutral flour, which also had good storing qualities. In Sweden a factory for the production of fish flour has been built by the firm \"Astra\". Des procédés nombreux et variés ont été mis au point pour la production de farines de poisson destinées soit à la consommation animale, soit à la consommation humaine. Tous ces procédés ont eu la vie courte du fait qu'il a été impossible de créer des débouchés pour les produits obtenus.On decrira dans cette communication quelques-uns des projets mis en œuvre.L'Institut norvégien de recherches en matière de pêche a fait construire une usine-pilote pour la production de la farine de poisson. Cette usine sera décrite plus loin. Le procédé utilisé a pour base les opérations simultanées d'enlèvement de l'eau et d'extraction de l'éthanol. L'extraction a lieu en trois temps, et, à chaque temps, le liquide est séparé des solides au moyen de presses à vis (pressoir continu).Bien que l'extraction se fasse à la température de l'atmospère ambiente, les expériences de laboratoire ont montré qu'il serait possible de produire, en partant de la chair de poisson pure, une farine absolument neutre qui présenteraitde bonnes qualité de conservation.En Suède, la maison 'Astra' a fait construire une usine pour la production de la farine de poisson.
