For NIOO-CEMO this was the motive to re-analyse the data of their catches from the period 1983 - 1990.In the period 1983 - 1990 NIOO-CEMO has sampled 1 - 4 times a year (every season) for demersal fish at 36 stations in the Oosterschelde. The net was a beam trawl with an effective width of 2.7 m and a mesh size of 10 mm. The estimated efficiency is 20%. When possible the haul was 1000m.During the entire research period 42 different fish-species have been caught. Most of them were demersal fish pelagic fish were caught as well. Many species had preferences, for example for season, depth or a certain type of sediment. Not every fish-species is caught with the same efficiency. For example Gasterosteiformes have small diameters and will easy slip trough the net. Only when seaweed is slightly blocking the meshes the net will hold more Gasterosteiformes.In spring the density was lower (approximately 100 fish per 1000m²) than in the autumn (350 fishes per 1000m²). The number of species was highest in June and lower in spring and winter. Cluster analysis proved an apparent summer - winter change in densities and species. Two groups of species were in anti-phase with each other.Flatfish mainly fixed the trend. Gobiidae and Clupaeidae (only in November) also had an important share in the autumn. Gadidae mainly appeared in summer.Density was highest in 1987, approximately 4 times higher then in the other years. In this year there were more flatfish, Gobidiidae and Clupaeidae then in most other years. The number of species was the same throughout the entire period.Further into the Oosterschelde the density decreased, in the ‘Kom’ the density was again higher. In the ‘Kom’ there were many flatfishes, Gobidiidae, Clupaeidae and Gadidae. Gadidae hardly appeared at the other locations. The number of species was the same at every station.Clupaeidae preferred depths between 11 and 15 m. For the other species the density was at every depth approximately equal.The period is not long enough to recognise the natural strong population dynamics. This is why it is important to restart the research and keep up with it for a longer period.","AbstractOtherLang":"Vanuit de amateurvisserij zijn klachten naar voren gekomen dat de (plat) visstand, na het voltooien van de stormvloedkering (1986) achteruit is gegaan. Voor het NIOO-CEMO is dit aanleiding de vangstgegevens uit de periode 1983 -1990 nader te onderzoeken en om tevens na te gaan of vervolgonderzoek nodig is.In de periode 1983 - 1990 is door NIOO-CEMO 1 tot 4 maal per jaar bemonsterd op demersale vis, op 36 locaties in de Oosterschelde. Er werd gevist met een boomkor van 3 m. breed met een maaswijdte van 10 mm, zoveel mogelijk over een lengte van 1000m vóór de stroom. De efficiëntie van deze methode wordt op 20 % geschat.Tijdens het onderzoek zijn 42 verschillende soorten vis gevangen. Hiervan zijn de meeste demersale vissoorten, maar er zitten ook enkele pelagische soorten tussen. Veel vissoorten hebben een bepaalde seizoensvoorkeur, dieptevoorkeur en / of voorkeur voor bodemmateriaal.Niet elke vissoort wordt even efficiënt gevangen met bovenstaande methode. Zeenaalden bijvoorbeeld hebben een kleine rompdiameter en blijven enkel in het net zitten wanneer de mazen enigszins worden afgesloten (met zeewier of slib).In het voorjaar is de densiteit ongeveer driemaal lager (ongeveer 100 vissen per 1000m²) dan in het najaar (350 vissen per 1000m²). Het aantal soorten is in juni het hoogst en in het najaar en de winter lager. Uit een clusteranalyse bleek een duidelijke zomer - winter wisseling van dichtheden en soorten. Er zijn twee groepen in anti-fase met elkaar.Aan het verloop van de densiteit dragen de platvissen het meest mee. In het najaar hebben ook de grondels en de haringachtigen (enkel in november) een belangrijk aandeel. Kabeljauwachtigen komen het meest voor in de zomer en zeer weinig in de winter en het voorjaar.In 1987 is de densiteit het hoogst, ongeveer 4 maal hoger dan in de jaren ervoor en erna. In deze piek zijn het vooral platvissen maar ook grondels en haringachtigen die in grotere aantallen vertegenwoordigd zijn dan in de meeste andere jaren.Naarmate je dieper de Oosterschelde ingaat daalt de dichtheid met ongeveer de helft, in de kom is de densiteit weer hoger. In de kom komen naast platvissen ook veel grondels, kabeljauwachtigen en haringen voor, deze laatste groep komt in de andere delen van de Oosterschelde erg weinig voor. Het aantal soorten is overal gelijk.Enkel haringachtigen hebben een duidelijke voorkeur voor dieptes van 11 tot 15 meter, verder is de densiteit en het aantal soorten op elke diepte ongeveer gelijk.De periode is te kort om de van nature sterk aanwezige populatiedynamiek te herkennen. Het is daarom belangrijk om het onderzoek te vervolgen en dan vooral voor een lange periode.
