Both direct visual and photographic observations were made. Through time-lapse photography it has been possible to determine (a) water currents which varied in speed between 0.02 and 0.06 knots, and in direction from 335° to 040°; (b) that 20% of a large brittle star population <i>( Ophiomusium lymani</i> and <i>Amphilepis sp</i>.)moved over a 44-min period and (c) that they moved in random directions, with speeds of 0.7 to 3.4 cm/min.
