The main objectives of the meeting were: (1) to review the status of the POEM field work and modelling efforts; (2) to establish the policy of data management and exchange; (3) to finalize the agenda of the Second POEM Workshop to be held in Trieste, Italy, 31 May to 4 June, 1988, with the focus upon the pooling of the POEM data into a common data base; (4) to establish the future directions of POEM.
