The calculations have been done for the short term (2010) andmidterm (2015). The study shows that the impact on the total cockle stocks is minor. It is expected that thepotential for the cockle stocks in 2010 will be decreased by 0.2% to 0.3% compared to the zero alternative. For2015 an increase in potential for cockle stocks of 0.4% to 3% is expected. These expected changes are minorcompared to the natural year to year fluctuations of the cockle stocks in the Westerschelde (coefficient ofvariation ≈ 0.6).The potential cockle stocks are calculated based on the expected changes in ecotope types. The analysis showsthat the present ecotope classification is a fairly good indicator for the average cockle biomass at a specificlocation. The highest cockle biomass in general occurs at the intermediate and lower parts of the intertidal flatswith low dynamics. Cockles are almost absent in the eastern part of the Westerschelde due to the low salineconditions in this area.","AbstractOtherLang":"Als onderdeel van het MER baggerwerkzaamheden Westerschelde zijn de effecten op de kokkelbestanden vantwee bagger6 en stort scenario’s vergeleken met het nulalternatief (voortzetting van het huidige beheer) voor dejaren 2010 en 2015. Uit de resultaten van deze studie is gebleken dat er op korte en middellange termijn (> 5jaar) weinig effecten worden verwacht voor de kokkelbestanden. Voor het jaar 2010 zullen de kokkelbestandenafnemen met 0.2% tot 0.3% ten opzichte van het nulalternatief. Voor het jaar 2015 wordt er juist een lichtetoename van de kokkelbestanden verwacht van 0.4% tot 3% ten opzichte van het nulalternatief. Dezeveranderingen zijn minimaal in vergelijking tot de grote jaarlijkse variatie van de kokkelbestanden in deWesterschelde (variatiecoëfficiënt ≈ 0.6).De kokkelbestanden zijn uitgerekend op basis van de verwachte veranderingen in ecotopen. Uit de analyses blijktdat de gebruikte ecotopenindeling het redelijk goed doet als schatter van de gemiddelde kokkelbiomassa.
