Working on values of 5 multiplied by 23 g dry mass of worm (excluding tube)/m² on the submerged aquatic plant (<i>Potamogeton pectinatus</i>), plus 84 multiplied by 9 g/m² on the canal walls, the total standing stock of the serpulid was estimated at 2 multiplied by 88 plus or minus 2 multiplied by 24 t (1 multiplied by 4 on <i>Potamogeton</i>); 1 multiplied by 48 t on canal walls). Clearance and ingestion rates both increased in direct proportion to food concentration. Using estimates of total standing stocks within the Marina, the <i>F. Enigmaticus</i> population clears 2 multiplied by 47 x 10<sup>7</sup> l of water/h and consumes 1 multiplied by 3 x 10<sup>8</sup> mg of particles/h in the 2-16 µm size range.
