In view of their possible use as indicators of the presence of Atlantic water (see Bowman, 1923; and Schmidt, 1909, p. 159), it is of value that their occurrence should be put on record. Regular weekly catches of plankton have been made since 1930 with half-hour oblique hauls with the two-metre stramin ring-trawl.
