Mayo Ireland indicates less eutrophic conditions in the D-marsh than in the QL-marsh or in the D-plain. Similar differences are measured in nutrient content of the soil and in the biomass. The phosphorus concentration shows significant differences, but not in nitrogen or potassium. No differences in external sources of nutrients or in mineralization were found to explain the differences in vegetation between the sites.
