Vervolgens zal de respiratie per gewichtséénheid langzaam dalen. Er blijkt een verband te bestaan tussen plotse stijgingen in QO<sub>2</sub> en terzelfdertijd optredende vervellingen. De invloed van een anaëroob milieu op <i>Artemia</i> embryos en nauplii werd onderzocht. Toenemende anoxieperioden doen het gehalte aan glycogeen dalen. De nauplii vertonen een overeenkomstige stijging in lactaat terwijl dit bij de embryos zeer miniem is in vergelijking met de afname in glycogeen.
