In addition to the cultivation of copepods continuous cultures of both the algae and the dinoflagellate were set up. The predation of <i>Oxyrrhis</i> on <i>Rhodomonas</i> was studied during 120 hours in dark. It was tried to get insight in the grazing of <i>Temora</i> on the food occurring in the culture tanks, especially <i>Oxyrrhis</i>. Except for naupliar stage I the food consumption was measured for all developmental stages at a concentration of 3500 <i>Oxyrrhis</i> cells ml<sup>-1</sup>. It was observed that the logarithm of feeding-and filtering rate increased linearly with stage. Within the adult stage the food intake appeared to be independent of the weight of the copepods, both in males and in females. The results of the grazing experiments have been extrapolated to the situation in the culture tanks and in the North Sea.","AbstractOtherLang":"De planktonische calanoide copepood <i>Temora longicornis</i> werd een veertiental generaties gekweekt bij 15°C op een dieet van algen (<i>Rhodomonas spec.</i> en <i>Isochrysis galbana</i>) en een heterotrofe dinoflagellaat (<i>Oxyrrhis marina</i>). Naast de copepodenkweek werden continu-cultures opgezet van de beide algen en van de dinoflagellaat. De predatie van <i>Oxyrrhis</i> op <i>Rhodomonas</i> in het donker werd gedurende 120 uur gevolgd. Getracht is een inzicht te krijgen in de vraat van <i>Temora</i> op het voedsel in de kweekbakken en op <i>Oxyrrhis</i> in het bijzonder. M.u.v. het nauplius I stadium werd de voedselopname voor alle stadia bepaald bij een concentratie van 3500 <i>Oxyrrhis</i>-cellen per ml. Waargenomen werd dat de logarithme van de feeding- en respectievelijk filtering rate lineair toenam met het stadium. De voedselopname binnen het copepodiet VI stadium bleek, zowel voor mannetjes als voor wijfjes onafhankelijk te zijn van het gewicht van deze copepoden.
