It is shown in this script that, taken into account both shoaling (divergence of the wave-energy speed) and bottom friction, the orbital velocity near the bed is a useful parameter to describe wave action. The orbital velocity behaves in full accordance with the qualitative conclusions drawn by Postma from the distribution of median grain size.","AbstractOtherLang":"Postma (1957) veronderstelde dat de golfwerking op het wad verantwoordelijk is voor de lokale verschillen in mediane korrelgrootte.
