Estimates of numbers of both species were derived from a sampling programme carried out at two weekly intervals on the Balgzand from April to November. Food consumption on the Balgzand was estimated from food intake experiments in the laboratory. Juvenile gobies in the catches at the end of July. The numbers of juvenile<i>P. minutus</i> remained more or less constant until November, the numbers of juvenile <i>P. microps</i> showed a significant decrease in Summer and Autumn. The total production of biomass between July and November for <i>P. microps</i> was 38 gr. ashfree dry weight/1000m<sup>2</sup>. The consumption in this period for <i>P. minutus</i> and <i>P. microps</i> was estimated at about 2980 and about 3970 gr. (fresh weight) respectively. The efficiency of growth over this period was about 6% for both species.","AbstractOtherLang":"Op een platengebied in de Waddenzee, het Balgzand, werd het aantalsverloop, de groei, de jaarlijkse produktie en de jaarlijkse voedselconsumptie van de grondelsoorten <i>Pomatoschistus minutus minutus</i> (zandgrondel) en <i>P. microps</i> (wadgrondel) bestudeerd. De aantalsschattingen werden verkregen uit een tweewekelijkse hoogwaterbemonstering op de platen van het Balgzand van april tot november. De voedselopname in het veld werd berekend uit gegevens verkregen uit experimenten in het laboratorium. Juveniele grondels verschenen eind juli in grote aantallen op het wad. De aantallen juveniele <i>P. minutus</i> in de vangsten bleven tot begin november constant, de aantallen juveniele <i>P. microps</i> namen in de loop van het seizoen sterk af. De biomassaproduktie van <i>P. minutus</i> was tussen juli en november 190 gr. versgewicht/1000m<sup>2</sup>, de produktie van <i>P. microps</i> in dezelfde periode bedroeg 260 gr. versgewicht/1000m<sup>2</sup>. De berekende voedselopname in deze periode voor <i>P. minutus</i> en <i>P. microps</i> was ong. 2980 resp. ong. 3970 versgewicht/1000m<sup>2</sup>.
