A sequence in grain size, sedimentary structures, biocoenose and biofacies is recognized. On this basis three facies running parallel to the coast are differentiated: Shelf-mud facies - transitional facies - coastal sand facies. These three facies in a single facies sequence in one period of earth history have been considered to show a process of regression.
