It is located about 50 km from the Belgian shore in the surroundings of Noordhinder. The eggs laid there, are being transported to the Wadden Sea via the residual streams. The Wadden Sea is known as the nursery, it is there that most larvae metamorphose into a little flounder. But if the eggs end up in the gyre-movement, they remain on the Belgian coast and metamorphose in the shallow coastal water. The temperature of the coastal waters is highly dependent on the temperature of the atmosphere and this temperature varies strongly in function of time. According to the temperature one can distinguish two water masses. Namely a water mass situated along the coast, where one finds a circular gyre-movement. And a water mass located on at least 45 km from the coast, where the temperature is more constant. Fish eggs can diffuse from one water mass to the other. Diffusion is the only means of transport for fish eggs to come to the coastal waters. This diffusion has been studied in function of the temperature of seawater.","AbstractOtherLang":"In de Noordzee zijn er verschillende paaiplaatsen, maar die van de Zuidelijke Bocht is de belangrijkste. Deze ligt op ongeveer 50 km van de Belgische kust in de omgeving van de Noordhinder. De eieren die daar gelegd worden, worden door de residuele stroming naar de Waddenzee vervoerd. De Waddenzee is bekend als nursery, het is daar dat de meeste larven metamorphoseren tot een kleine schol. Maar als de eieren in de gyre-beweging komen, blijven zij voor de Belgische kust en metamorphoseren in de ondiepe kustwateren. Deze kustwateren hebben een temperatuur die zeer afhankelijk is van de atmosferische temperatuur. Deze temperatuur variëert dan ook sterk in functie van de tijd. Aan de hand van deze temperatuur kan men 2 watermassa's ondershceiden. Namelijk een watermassa die langs de kust ligt en waar de circulaire gyre-beweging heerst. En een watermassa die op minstens 45 km van de kust gelegen is en waar de temperatuur meer konstant is. De viseieren kunnen van de ene watermassa naar de andere diffunderen. Diffusie is het enige transportmiddel voor de viseieren om naar de kustwateren te komen.
