It appears that dieldrin suppresses the activity of aminopyrine demethylase, at a steady state level of dieldrin in the liver (5 mg.kg<sup>-1<\/sup>, wet weight), which is reached after 2 weeks' exposure. Aniline hydroxylase is not much influenced, although there is some indication that dieldrin temporarily promotes the activity of this enzyme system. However, this was found only once and must be verified in further studies. This enhancement of the activity of aniline hydroxylase coincides with a decrease of the accumulation rate of dieldrin in the liver, which leads to the steady state level.
