Because of serious sedimention problems which did occur in some large tunnel trenches dredged in the Netherlands, a mathematical model for sedimentation predictions was developed. The purpose of such a model should be the estimation of the sedimentation in relation to the channel resulted in a two- dimensional vertical mathematical model for suspended sediment (SUTRENCH-model). A detailed description of the SUTRENCH-model is given. The flow field in a channel oblique to the flow is described. The influence of the most important hydraulic parameters on the predicted sedimentation rates is shown.
